What is Nahda Tech?

Our Mission

Born out of a careful study of the needs of the technology sector in Syria, Nahda-Tech is an initiative aimed at bolstering the technical and soft skills of workers and entrepreneurs in the tech sector in Syria through facilitating bootcamps, networking and training opportunities aimed at capacity-building and upskilling the local workforce, encouraging innovation entrepreneurship and connecting technology professionals.

Workforce Building

Cultivating a well-rounded, balanced, and confident workforce in Syria

Explore Tech Fields

Introducing the Syrian public to various sub-fields within the tech industry, including robotics, health tech, fintech, cloud computing, networking, and more.

Entrepreneurship

Introducing entrepreneurs to the A-to-Z steps of starting up new businesses, from concept to product management, and pitching to investors.

Upskilling

Upskilling the local workforce through training in key technical skills necessary to enter the field, or to establish one’s own start-up (eg. Python, AI, Mobile Development, Web Development, e-commerce, etc.).

Our Aims

Continous Learning

Delivering information regarding self-guided study and personal development following the bootcamp to enable participants to pursue self-guided study.

Mentorship & Networking

Facilitating dedicated time for 1:1 mentoring, office hours, and networking for participants to follow up with trainers and speakers for further guidance and support. Arranging networking sessions that encourage strong relationships across the sector.

Post-Bootcamp Roadmap

Nahda-Tech is part of a broader initiative focused on an adopted, evidence-based, and local-context-informed approach to encouraging growth in the Syrian technology industry. As such, the intervention, designed as a bootcamp, responds to a problem identified during a needs assessment exercise, demonstrating the technical upskilling and practical training required in this market.

In keeping with this overall approach, the conclusion of this bootcamp event will be accompanied by the circulation of a feedback exercise, in the form of a survey. The feedback exercise will focus on identifying the impact and effectiveness of the bootcamp for attendees, the degree of adoption of technical knowledge (as identified by trainers delivering the sessions), as well as the overall impressions of investors and companies of the suitability of this upskilling approach after one pilot event.

If the feedback returns positive, and if we can establish a potential for longitudinal evidence of improvement in the tech sector with regards to the quality of tech worker skills, this encouraging outcome will encourage the adoption of Nahda-Tech as a sustainable, regular, capacity-building initiative, working alongside partners across Syria.
